Anti-Smoking Community Sues President
Four anti-smoking organizations, namely the Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI), Jakarta Residents Forum, Fighting Smoking Foundation, and Healthy Indonesia Coalition, have filed a class action lawsuit against the President and the House of Representatives (DPR). The government is seen to have failed to protect the public from health hazards and social and environmental damages, as well as causing an economic downturn as a consequence of tobacco consumption.

No Fuel Smart Card
The Government finally cancelled a plan to use smart cards for subsidized fuel. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister, Purnomo Yusgiantoro, said that the government will find another way to economize on fuel subsidies. “We can do this by restructuring the management and maximizing bio-premium fuel,” he said yesterday.
