Victims of Wonosobo Landslide Neglected
Wednesday, 28 July, 2010 | 20:00 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, Semarang:Around 61 families affected by the landslide in Setieng village in Wonosobo still have not been taken care of by the government. The central and regional governments’ promise to relocate them to a safer place has not been realized, even though the disaster took place last January.
“The government is neglecting the landslide victims,” said the Central Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Commission D member, Sri Praptono, yesterday.
The landslide damaged nine homes and killed five people.
The politician from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) said many people living on areas prone to landslide are waiting for the government to fulfill its promise. “Most of them are still living with their relatives,” Sri said.
