Police Uncover Online Prostitution

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Jakarta Cyber Crime Unit of the Special Criminal Directorate has uncovered online prostitution sites and blogs.
“A suspect named YD, who owned a prostitution blog and site, was arrested,” Jakarta Police spokesperson, Commissioner General Boy Rafli Amar told Tempo in his office, on Monday.
The prostitution practice was uncovered after the police had investigated sites in the social networking site Multiply, which are http://dennymanagement.multiply.com and websitewww.deliveryjakarta.cc.cc.
From the investigation, it was discovered that both sites had been used for prostitution practices for a year.
YD was arrested by the police in a house in South Jakarta, last Friday.
Along with the suspect, the police confiscated evidence such as a blackberry mobile phone, Rp5 million in cash and contraceptive devices.
According to Boy, the suspect used both sites to offer women from 22 to 30 years old.
The price, “From Rp5 million until Rp50 million.”
Through the site, the suspect had hundreds of customers.
The modus operandi was simple.
The bargaining was carried out online.
If a deal was reached, the suspect could contact the interested party through the telephone to decide on the meeting location.
The payment was in cash.
“They pay immediately after the date, including delivery fee,” said Boy.
The suspect was charged under article 506 of the criminal code, because he was considered to have taken advantage from women’s immoral acts and make a living out of this.
YD is also being charged under article 209 of the criminal code for immoral acts with a maximum sentence of seven years.
The Police are cooperating with the Communication and Information Department to block both sites.
