TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Indonesia, as the country with the largest number of avian flu sufferers has to be ready to face a pandemic.
“The need to face avian flu is very clear,” said Julian Wilson, European Union Ambassador, in the seminar “Preparing Indonesia to Face Influenza Pandemic,” in Jakarta yesterday.
“The European Union provides 70 percent of the avian flu and human facilities as a proof of our solidarity to Indonesia,” Wilson added in the seminar, which was a cooperation between the Department of Health with the WHO and the European Union.
With funds of 13.5 million Euros run by WHO, the European Union provides aid in the form of training on infection control for 100 avian flu referral hospitals and the pilot project on healthy food in 10 regions.
