TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Indonesian National Armed Forced said it still needed the budget to refurbish its main weaponry system. The government was asked to pay attention to the military’s need to refurbish the equipment that should be more modern, practical and accurate.
“The limited budget is affecting the modernization of the main weaponry system,” said Infantry Weaponry Center commander, Maj. Gen. Soenarko, yesterday at the Infantry Division Command Headquarter in Cilodong, Depok.
The Army-run PT Pindad production director, Slamet Irianto, said around 15.000 weapons are produced every year. The most recent weapons included the SS2-V2 Telescope long rifle as well as the G2-Combat and the Elite pistols. The Indonesian Armed Forces has ordered 10.000 weapons while the rest is sold to Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.
