Parliament to Present Initial Assessment on Bank Century

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Ahead of the end of the inquiry on Bank Century bail out, the special inquiry committee of the House of Representatives will present their first overviews on the case.

In the first stage on Monday (8/2) each party faction will set out their assessment on the merger of banks which formed Bank Century, decision to provide short term loan by the central bank and temporary capital assistance for Bank Century.

Bank Century rescue was brought up to the public at the end of President Susilo Bambnag Yudhoyono first term as Vice President Jusuf Kalla accused the economic team of Yudhoyono’s cabinet excluded him in the decision making of the bail out.

Inquiry failed to reveal details on the rescued fund and financial state of the bank as lawmaker focused on the legal aspect of the decision making and the grounds used by the government in making the decision.

On the contrary informations on who benefit from the decision keep coming from outside of the inquiry as scholars and activists claim that Yudhoyono’s democratic Party have received campaign contributions from.
