TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The US and Indonesia governments have held a meeting to discuss both country’s business plans.
About 60 entrepreneurs from the US-ASEAN Business Council met with the government representatives.
The American Ambassador for Indonesia, Cameron R. Hume, said that there was a lot of cooperation that could be carried out between the USA and Indonesia
“We were talking about numerous business and investments,” he said after meeting Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa yesterday.
“According to us, Indonesia has a good future,” he said.
The US entrepreneurs are scheduled to meet Hatta today.
On another occasion, the US-ASEAN Business Council President Alexander Feldman confirmed that the USA is committed to cooperate with Indonesia in developing business in the future.
“We will participate in developing infrastructure, education, health and environment,” said Feldman after meeting Vice-President Boediono in his office.
Feldman was accompanied by Hume and delegates from 21 US companies operating in ASEAN.
Feldman also said that he understood the difficulties and challenges Indonesia faces today.
These challenges include infrastructure, technology and capital problems.
He said he was optimistic that they can help or cooperate with the Indonesian government for a long term partnership.
Feldman admitted that infrastructure development was very important in supporting business and economic development.
The Indonesian government, through Vice president Boediono, he said, assured that infrastructure was important in increasing connectivity and business development in the country.
The Head of the US-Indonesia Business Committee Clay Thompson said that US-Indonesia business development and investment would not only involve foreign companies.
”But, the investment opportunity will probably involve local companies,” he said.
