TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: State Electricity Company Workers Union seized on Wednesday (23/12) headquarters of the company in Jakarta, in protest against the appointment of the new chief director from external source, which was seen by the union as a bid to privatize the company.
The move came hours after the State Enterprises Ministry said the new director, owner of a major newspaper group, Dahlan Iskan will be installed before next week, to replace Fahmi Mochtar who was installed in March last year.
Reportedly nine other directors will be installed along with the Jawa Pos Group owner, adding two directors in the previously eight-seated board.
Workers said they feared that the new management would release copntroll on some of its assets and bring electricity prices move uncontrollably. Chairman of the union Ahmad Daryoko claimed “11 general managers would resign and the number could increase.”
The State Enterprises Ministry's Deputy for Mining, Strategic Industry, Energy, and Telecommunication, Sahala Lumbangaol later said one of the new position in the board is Primary Energy Director.
Members of the board according to an unnamed source are Dahlan Iskan (Chief Director), Murtaqi (Business and Risk Management Director), Setio Angggoro (Finance Director), Eddy Erningpradja (Mineral Resources Director), JB Bagyo Riawan (Strategic Procurement Director), Nur Pamudji (Primary Energy Director), Nasri Sebayang (Technology and Planning Director), Adnyana (Operation Director for Java-Madura-Bali), Harry Jaya Pahlawan (Operation Director for Western Indonesia), and Vickner Sinaga (Operation Director for Eastern Indonesia).
