Communication Minister Holds Closed Meeting With the Media

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Communication Minister Tifatul Sembiring held a closed meeting on Monday with senior editors of print and electronic media in Jakarta and the National Police Chief Bambang Hendarso Danuri.
The communication minister refused to inform on the meeting, saying “this is a routine program. Some of the media represented in the meeting were Antara State News Agency, The Jakarta Post, Gatra Magazine, Media Indonesia, Tempo, Bisnis Indonesia, and Detik.com.
No closed meeting between the previous communication minister and media editors in the last one year. The last meetings with media editors were held by presidential contenders in the last election.
The meeting started at 2 pm as the state palace annouced the formation of a verification team to investigate the accusations that the cases against the corruption investigators was a plot to shut down the anti-graft commission.
Later after the meeting the editors represented by Bambang Harymurti, Chief Editor of Tempo Group, demanded the release of the troubled investigators and put themselves as legal guarantor for the two investigators.
