Indonesia Condemns Munti Abuse Case
Friday, 30 October, 2009 | 16:13 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Indonesian government strongly condemned the abuse of Munti binti Bani by her employer in Malaysia. Munti was a migrant worker from Surabaya who died in Selangor last Monday following extensive injuries. "The Indonesian government has conveyed its protest to Malaysia," Presidential spokesperson, Dino Patti Djalal, said yesterday.
According to Dino, the Malaysian government had previously announced their commitment to honoring the rights of Indonesians and protect living and working in their country. Malaysia has formed an investigation team led by Malaysian deputy police chief.
The Indonesian government will continue to support the case, Dino said. The perpetrators, allegedly Munti’s employers, will soon be duly punished for their criminal action.
