Balekambang to be a Flora and Fauna Tourism Area

TEMPO Interactive, Surakarta: The Surakarta municipality plans to transform the Balekambang Park into a flora and fauna tourism site. At the remains of Mangkunegara VII, a market selling animals for pets will also be built.

“We have finished the design,” Surakarta Public Market Office chief, Subagyo, said yesterday.

The market construction is scheduled to begin in 2010. “The budget is around Rp 20 billion,” Subagyo said. The market will be integrated with the Balekambang Park. “Balekambang will have a bigger attraction for tourists.”
