Two Eggs a Day Can Raise Child’s IQ
Tuesday, 06 October, 2009 | 19:16 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Yogyakarta:Eating two eggs a day can help raise a child’s IQ. Eggs can also make up for iodine deficiency, which is a problem experienced by many children living in mountainous areas. Nutritionist from Gadjah Mada University’s Medical Faculty in Yogyakarta, Toto Sudargo, presented the result of his research to journalists yesterday.

According to Toto, lack of iodine in elementary school students in Wonosobo and Wonogiri mountain areas has reduced their IQ level by 10 to 15 percent. “When treated with consumption of eggs, their IQ level rose by 20 percent,” he said.

Toto said around 19 to 33 percent of students in Wonosobo and Wonogiri lacked iodine. “Children really need to consume eggs, especially fried ones because the oil provides an additional 19 grams of protein.”
