A Chicken Farmer Prepared for Suicide Bombing

TEMPO Interactive, Cilacap: Ahmadi, 39, alias Ahmad Jenggot, has admitted that he was prepared by Noor Din M. Top for the suicide bombing. He gave himself up to village authorities and then was picked up by the National Police's Special Anti-terror Detachment 88 (Densus 88) on Wednesday (22/7).
Ahmad Jenggot is a resident of Sigaru Hamlet in Sikanco Village, Nusawungu sub-district, Cilacap, Central Java.
“He said that he was offered by Noor Din to be a suicide bomber. We do not know yet his targeted location,” said head of the Central Java Regional Police, Inspector General Alex Bambang Riatmodjo, in Surakarta, yesterday (23/7).
The Sikanco Village head, Suparno, said that Ahmadi disappeared for a while when he knew that his partner, Saefudin Zuhri, had been arrested on 21 June at Danasri Village that is also in Nusawungu sub-district.
It is alleged that Saefudin is related to the Noor Din terrorist network.
Ahmad Jenggot at that time ran away to Lampung before finally coming back on Tuesday (21/7). He went directly went to the village authorities. “He surrendered as he knew the police were looking for him,” said Suparno in Cilacap.
Head of the village neighborhood watch where Ahmad stays, Yusuf Maksum, said that Ahmad was trusted by his family to take care of his family’s chicken farming. He does not have a family certificate nor an ID card.
According to Suparno, Ahmad got to know Bahrudin Latif and Zuhri when attending a Qor'an class at Al-Muaddib Islamic boarding school in Pasuruhan, Binangun.
Up until yesterday, the police were still looking for Bahrudin alias Baridin, a resident of Binangun sub-district in Cilacap, who has disappeared. Bahrudin is the father-in-low of Noor Din M Top.
Earlier, the police found two bombs wrapped in a blue plastic bag that was planted in the back yard of Bahrudin's house. Regarding this finding, Astuti, Bahrudin's wife, was surprised.
