TEMPO Interactive, Berlin: The Germany automotive manufacturer, Volkswagen, plans to develop its market in Indonesia and other countries in South-East Asia.
It will build a car factory producing the VW Caravel model Touran this year in West Java.
The Indonesian Ambassador to Germany, Eddy Pratomo, said that the company and the German government have discussed this investment planning.
“The investment value is around EUR35 million,” Eddy told Tempo yesterday (12/7).
It is estimated that the investment will absorb 3,000-4,000 workers. It is planned to build the factory by end of this year.
“They have already started talking with the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM),” said Eddy.
Eddy explained that this planning shows Indonesia is still trusted by investors.
When the global crisis hit, no Germany companies left Indonesia. “This is good news. We have to maintain the relationship,” he said.
More investors from German plan to invest on the health sector in Indonesia.
A doctor who used to treat the former president Soeharto intends to build a cardiology hospital here.
