Indonesia Signs Extradition Agreement with China

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: An extradition agreement between Indonesia and China was signed on Wednesday (1/7) in Beijing, China.
Indonesia was represented by Foreign Affairs Minister Hassan Wirajuda and China by its Foreign Affairs Minister Yang Jiechi.
The agreement does not mention specifically about what criminal action against those who can be extradited.
Anyone considered carrying out criminal actions in either country can be extradited.
“The agreement covers further kinds of criminal actions,” statted the foreign affairs department’s release.
The extradition is for trial process and sentencing follows the law of each country.
The extradition agreement has processed in three phases.
Earlier, the two countries approved an agreement over mutual legal assistance in criminal action in 2006.
To date, Indonesia has signed extradition agreement with seven countries.
