Thursday, 18 June, 2009 | 18:45 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Medan Election Office (Komisi Pemilihan Umum) in North Sumatra announced its checking results on eligible voter list ahead of presidential election, saying it found double entries and deceased voters on the previous list.

Spokesman for the election office Pandapotan Tamba said on Thursday (18/6), Medan election office to coordinate with the central and provincial election office before removing the names.

Head of the Medan election Office Evi Ginting rejected that the errors were made by her staffs.

Revision on eligible voter list were made after the election office was criticised by political parties and election monitoring as reports of excluded eligible voters emerged from regions all over the country. Deceased voters were also found in the list for the parliamentary election.

Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle once claimed in April that they received a copy of data of the actual tally by the election office which was different to the published tally, two weeks after the election.
