Treatment for Swine Flu Same as for Bird Flu says Indonesian Health Minister

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Health Minister, Siti Fadillah Supari, has said that the treatment for swine flu is the same as for bird flu.She mentioned that the death rate for bird flu is higher than swine flu.

“It can reach 80 percent while it is only 6 percent for swine flu,” she said on Monday (27/4).

However, she suggested people to stay wary.

Siti stated that the government was ready to face the virus if it comes to Indonesia.

She mentioned that Tamiflu medicine that is used for patients with bird flu can also be used for patients with swine flu.

“Indonesian Tamiflu is more sensitive and automatic,” she said.

She went on to say that Indonesia does not need to kill pigs as there are no victims yet.
