TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:State-owned oil company PT Pertamina raised the price of Pertamax and Pertamax Plus fuel byRp300 per liter on March 1, 2009, from the previous price set on February 15, 2009.
Pertamina’s Public Relations chief Anang Rizkani Noor announced at a press conference yesterday in Jakarta that the Pertamax price in Jakarta, West Java, and Banten had gone up to Rp5.900 per liter from the previous Rp5.600 per liter. “The price for Pertamax Plus in those areas is now Rp6.500 per liter from the previous Rp6.200,"
The rise in this non-subsidized fuel price was a result of an increase in the price of premium fuel in the international market and the weakening rupiah rate against the US dollar. Pertamax and Pertamax Plus prices in other areas like Medan and Aceh have increased to Rp6.400 and Rp6.700 per liter, respectively. Meanwhile in Central Java and East Java, Pertamax and Pertamax Plus prices have gone up to Rp6.300 and Rp6.700 per liter, respectively. However, Anang said, the price of Pertamina Dex remains the same, which is Rp5.800 per liter.
Earlier, the price of the three non-subsidized fuel was lowered last February 15. In all areas, Pertamax Plus dropped by Rp200 per liter. The same applied for Pertamax, except in Jakarta, which dropped by Rp325 to Rp5.600 per liter. The price of Pertamina Dex also dropped by Rp500 to Rp5.800 per liter.
