TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: A shrimp exporting company, PT Central Proteinaprima Tbk (CP Prima) announced its readiness to face US officals who will investigate the condition of the production site at Bandar Lampung next week. "We are convinced that CP Prima will pass inspection and be of charges," CP Prima spokesman, Fajar Reksoprodjo, told Tempo, last week.
According to Fajar, CP Prima has complete documents to prove that the company never transferred frozen shrimp products from China to be sent to the US on their containers. The charges, he said, is very serious and can affect the performance of the shrimp export nationwide. "We want this issue to be settled soon," he added.
On October 2008, 42 containers belonging to CP Prima were detained by the US Custom and Excises because they were suspected of containing transferred shrimps from China. After the company submitted the documents which explained the origin of the shrimps, 34 containers were released. Meanwhile, the other seven were sent back to Indonesia in December 2008.
