Aburizal Bakrie Files Complaints Over Tempo
Friday, 28 November, 2008 | 18:21 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Aburizal Bakrie filed complaints on Tempo Magazine to the Press Council on Friday for reports and artwork on its 17-23 November 2008 edition.
Aburizal and his legal representatives handed their complaints on an article under the title “Rocked by An Earthquake” and the artwork on the magazine's cover which depicts the Indonesia's Richest Person's (according to Forbes rich list in 2007) face. Bakrie objected to the templates of numbers which built an image of his face and two sets of 666 numbers on a section of the image, which he said symbolises the devil.
The presidential spokesman Andi Mallarangeng and four of Bakrie lawyers assisted Aburizal on the occasion
Bakrie family owned Bakrie & Brothers group which controlled a number of companies including Lapindo Brantas, an energy company which operation in Sidoarjo triggered the mudflow in may 2006 that has drowned over 6,5 kilometer square by late 2007.
The conglomerate denied the mudflow as a result of their exploitation in the area and forced the government to allocate compensation for over 10.000 displaced from the 2007 and 2008 state budget.
The Press Council said will summon Tempo on the complaints.
