President Yudhoyono Opens Asian Parliamentary Session

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: President Yudhoyono opened the third Asian Parliamentary Session at the Indonesian Parliament's office in Jakarta on Thursday.

Chairman of the Iranian Parliament Ali Larijani, once the chief negotiator for Iran on nuclear probems, attended the opening session as Iran will handover the chairman position of the association to the Indonesian parliament.
The session picked the global financial issues to tackle the problem in the region, parliaments from 28 out of 39 Asian countries participated in the meeting scheduled to end on November 29th.

The first two session were hed in Tehran in 2006 and 2007.

The theme of the third session is Asia and the Need for New Global Financial Architecture and te session planned to produce a joint declaration.
