Indonesia Wins at the ASEAN Skill Competition

TEMPO Interactive, Kuala Lumpur:Indonesia won five gold, five silver and four bronze medals at the seventh ASEAN Skill Competition (ASC) for industry, held at the Development Academy at Central Malaysia, on Tuesday. Leader of the Indonesian delegation, Abdul Wahab Bangkona, is very satisfied with the achievements.
Compared to two years ago in Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia doesn't have as many gold medals. “But generally, our achievement has increased ,” said Abdul. He mentioned that last year Indonesia won six golds, two silvers, and two bronze medals. The participants were not more than 25 years old.
This year, Indonesia also won 16 diploma recognitions. “Out of 38 members of our delegation, 30 of them won medals and recognitions,” said Abdul.
Gold medals for Indonesia are from the category of Ladies Dressmaking that was won by I Nyoman Bayu; Cabinet Making by Muhammad Abidin; Web Design by Krisna Ranggabuana; Bricklaying by Edi Suwiknyo; and Graphic Design by Heri Kurniawan.
While silver and bronze medals are from the category of Electrical Installation, Restaurant Service, Computer Aided Design and Drafting, Cooking, Graphic Design, IT/Software Application, and Automobile Technology.
Abdul said that the government awards the winners a scholarship to study in the country or internship in Japan for three years. “The Japanese government is very supportive. Some of the winners have been offered jobs abroad,” he said.
