Press Council Regret Bakrie Move

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Press council said on Tuesday a plan to report Tempo to the police by Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Aburizal Bakrie is a disadvantage to democracy.
Abdullah Alamudi a member of the council said “we regretted the decision by Bakrie, this is a drawback in democracy.”
As a state official, Abdullah proceeded Bakrie should brought the matter first to the press council as media disputes should be first referred to the press law before the criminal.
The statement came a day after Aburizal Bakrie filed a legal complain to Tempo on its November 17 edition which present a cover story on Bakrie & Brothersa business group controlled by the family of Aburizal Bakrie. Tempo presented the contentious suspension on one of its subsidiaries stocks which in on sale to a group of foreign led investors. Also in the edition is Aburizal's contribution to the current President-Vice President during the 2004 presidential campaign.
Aburizal side said to proceed with the plan to bring the case to the police.
