Artists Call On Sultan to Preserve Local Arts

TEMPO Interactive, Yogyakarta:Artists from Solo, Mount Merapi, Merbabu, Sumbing and Menoreh are to meet with Yogyakarta's ruler, governor Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, at his residence today, to declare their support his candidacy in the upcoming presidential election.

The artists will also call on the Sultan to preserve the people's arts and support the artists, who have been sidelined. "Empower us," said the Puguh artists' coordinator, Joko Sulistyo. The Sultan has agreed to meet them jointly.
