TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: PT Pertamina plans to start building an oil refinery in Bojanegara, Banten, by end of this year. “The preliminary study will be finished in October,” said Pertamina’s Director Ari Soemarno when meeting the president of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company Reza Nematzadech, yesterday.
Pertamina and the Iranian company will build an oil refinery with a capacity of 300,000 barrels of oil per day that will cost around US$6 billion. Pertamina’s Processing Director Rukmi Hadihartini said construction will be started after the preliminary study is finished. “Then we will start the engineering process,” said Rukmi.
Iran and Libya plan to supply oil from this refinery at 150,000 barrels per day. The refinery is scheduled to begin operations in 2010-2011.
Pertamina is also interested in building a similar refinery in Tuban, East Java, with Libya.
