TEMPO Interactive, Depok: About 100 physics experts from 24 countries are attending the Fourth International Asia-Pacific Conference on Few-Body in Physics at the Japan Study Center at the University of Indonesia, Depok, West Java, on August 19-23.
The conference was opened by the State Minister for Research and Technology Kusmayanto, on Tuesday (19/8) and will present research reports by world physics experts especially about few-body physics.
The conference is expected to increase the quality of physics experts in Indonesia.
Indonesia had to compete with India, South Korea, and Kazahkstan, which have more prominent physics experts than Indonesia, to host this conference.
Eight physics experts from Indonesia will make presentations at this conference, including LT Handoko, winner of the Bakri Award.
Most of the conference participants have come from Japan, which has sent 30 physics experts.
“Being appointed as the host for the conference shows that Indonesia is a well-regarded country in terms of few-body physics theory,” said Imam Fachruddin, the conference’s chair.
Previously, the conference has been conducted in Tokyo, Shanghai, and Thailand.
