Survey Shows Yudhoyono Most Capable of Solving Problems

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is still considered to be capable of solving urgent problems in Indonesia, according to a survey by of the Indonesian Research and Development Survey institute.
“His confidence level is 40.3 percent,” said the survey's project coordinator Hasan Nasbi, at the Grand Hyatt hotel, Jakarta, on Monday (5/5).
The confidence level of Megawati Soekarnoputri is 22 percent, second position after Yudhoyono.
Wiranto, head of the People's Conscience Party (Hanura), is in third position with a confidence level of 11.6 percent while Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X is in fourth position with 7.3 percent.
Amien Rais has 5.3 percent, Jusuf Kalla 3.6 percent, and former Jakarta governor Sutiyoso two percent.
The survey was carried out in 33 provinces between 22-30 March, 2008, involving 2,600 respondents with an equal balance between males and females.
The level of confidence for the survey was 95 percent with 1.9 percent of sampling error possibility.
However, 70.5 percent of respondents said they were unhappy with basic commodities price, and 57.7 percent of respondents were disappointed with the government's economic program.
In terms of the unemployment and poverty eradication programs, only 26.5 percent of respondents said they were satisfied.
