Xanana Gusmao Meets with President Yudhoyono

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Timor Leste Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao met with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the State Palace in Jakarta, Tuesday (29/4).
This is Xanana's first visit to Indonesia after being elected Timor Leste Prime Minister on 8 August 2007.
In December 2006, Xanana visited Indonesia as Timor Leste president.
Nine ministers accompanied Xanana: the foreign affairs minister, the judicial affairs minister, the health minister, the education minister, the minister for regional administration and management, the minister for the economy and development, the infrastructure minister, the minister for the tourism industry and trade, and the fishery and agriculture minister.
Xanana arrived in Jakarta on Sunday evening and is scheduled to visit Indonesia for five days.
Xanana is scheduled to meet the Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), the Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), the Commander of the Indonesian Military, and the Chief of the Indonesian Police.
He will also meet the business community, entrepreneurs from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Timor Leste people and students in Indonesia.
He will give a general lecture at a forum of the Indonesian Council on World Affairs.
Four bilateral agreements will be signed during this visit.
They are a trade agreement, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on technical cooperation in trade, an MOU on technical cooperation in small- and medium-sized industries, and an MOU on technical cooperation in drug and food control.
Before signing the agreement, Xanana and the Indonesian President will meet in private to discuss important issues between two countries.
