TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Thirty investigators from the Commission to Eradicate Corruption (KPK) examined offices of five members of the House of Representatives (DPR) and one office of the Secretariat of the Forestry and Agriculture Commission at the House of Representatives, yesterday (28/40 between 11.25am and 10pm.
The purpose of this was to investigate the suspicion of bribes being received by legislators regarding forest clearance in Bintan District, Riau islands.
One of rooms examined belongs to Al-Amin Nur Nasution, who has been detained by KPK since 9 April.
The examination team was supervised by KPK investigative director Bambang Widaryanto.
They also checked out the offices of Azwar Chesputra, Syafri Hutauruk, Sudjud Siradjuddin and Ishartanto, head of the Forestry Commission.
One of the offices was locked because the lock had been changed the previous day.
“The lock was changed,” said Gayus Lumbuun, Deputy Chairman of the Honorary Board, who accompanied the investigators.
In addition to Gayus, there were also the House's secretary general Nining Indra Saleh and deputy chairman of the House's judicial commission Soeripto. “
We will not intervene,” said Gayus. “Investigators can take any documents they need without any permission.”
Before the examination, KPK head Antasari Azhar and KPK deputy head Chandra Hamzah, met with the House's chairman Agung Laksono, then with the House's secetary general Nining Indra Saleh.
“As it is regulated, we ask to be accompanied when investigating,” said Antasari.
He did not explain further the discussion with Agung Laksono. “I cannot tell you now.”
KPK confiscated four laptops and nine hard disks from the secretariat room of the Forestry Commission, and some documents related to the case.
They also took recording cassettes of the meetings between the Forestry Commission and the Forestry Ministry.
Soeripto said that the investigators also made copies of the data from computers in the examined offices.
“Five sets of documents were taken,” said Suwandi Idris, the personal secretary of Sudjud Siradjuddin, commenting on documents taken from his boss's room.
From Al-Amin's room, investigators confiscated one financial expense report for the period of August 2007.
“It is not a problem as long as it can help the investigation,” said Sirra Prayuna, Al-Amin's attorney.
