Possible Member of Noor Din's Gang Arrested

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The special anti-terrorism detachment 88 team arrested a man named Yasir, AKA Faiz, in Purworejo, Central Java, yesterday (22/4).
According to Commissioner I Asdjima'in, Chief of the Purworejo Sub Regional Police, Yasir was caught at around 4.30am.
According to Asdjima'in, Yasir admitted he was not a resident of Wingkosangrahan Village, Ngombol, Purworejo, Central Java.
He said he originally came from Wongiri and was married to a woman from Wingkosangrahan.
During his interview, Yasir said he worked as a teacher for an Al Koran reading class in Darusahada, Boyolali, Central Java.
He was caught on the way to his mother in law's house as his wife was giving birth.
Asdjiman'in said he could not yet confirm whether or not Yasir is part of a terrorism network or a member of the terrorist group led by Noor Din M.Top.
According to a Tempo source at the Yogyakarta Regional Police, the police have been targeting Yasir since two days ago.
The arrest was made during a joint operation between members of the special detachment 88 team, the Central Java Regional Police and the Yogyakarta Regional Police.
The source also said that Yasir was the latest person recruited by Noor Din, and also worked as a courier in the group.
Indonesian police spokesperson, General Inspector Abubakar Nataprawira, said that they have not received any information regarding the arrest in Purworejo.
“I have not heard about it yet,” he said.
