27 Countries to Discuss Terrorism

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: As many as 100 representatives from 27 countries will meet in Semarang, Central Java between 21 and 22 February to discuss issues related to counter-terrorism and transnational crimes.

“In the meeting, the participants will share their experiences regarding public participation in preventing these two problems,” said Ibnu Hadi, Director of Asia-Africa Regional Cooperation at the Foreign Affairs Department, in Cafe Vietopia, Cikini, Central Jakarta, on Monday (18/2).

According to Ibnu, all delegations will tell about how public participation tackles these matters.

“Including using terror perpetrators in order to prevent new terrorists,” he said.

The meeting, which is officially named the ASEAN Regional Forum International Meeting, said Ibnu, will present many lot of speakers.

These will include those from the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), the Anti Terror 88 Special Detachment, the Anti Terror Desk at the Political, Legal and Security Affairs Ministry, the Defense Department, Interpol and the Foreign Affairs Department.

“In addition, we also invite Sidney Jones to share her knowledge of terrorism,” said Ibnu.
