FBI to Examine Munir's Body Organs
Tuesday, 06 February, 2007 | 09:31 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will examine the body organs of murdered human rights activist Munir.

The examination is aimed at confirming the poison type, when the poison was administered and how the poison came to be in Munir's body.

“All of this will be re-examined using their technology,” said Gen. Sutanto, National Police (Polri) Chief, in Jakarta yesterday (5/2).

Munir's body organs, specifically his liver and spleen, which are now at the Polri HQ Criminal Research Agency, were first examined by the Netherlands Forensic Institute which was suspicious about Munir's abnormal death and arsenic was found.

“We want to know exactly what type of arsenic,” said Sutanto.

Re-examination, he said, could more support verification in court.

“So that everything can be more accurate,” said Sutanto.
