TEMPO Interactive, Solo: The signatories of the Malino Declaration have agreed to meet again to discuss the situation in Poso that is heating up after the incident on January 22.
Vice President Jusuf Kalla has been asked to attend this meeting of peace in Poso.
“This meeting is very important, since out of the 10 points of the peace agreement, not all have not been realized,” said Andi Baso Rustam Effendy, one of the Malino signatories, in Solo, Wednesday (31/1).
Baso Rustam who was in Solo to attend an open dialog on Poso held by the local Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI), acknowledged that horizontal conflicts between Islamic and Christian groups were no longer ongoing.
Vertical conflicts between Islamic groups and security personnel that occurred lately were said to be rooted on the Malino I Agreement, signed in December, 2001.
“Because the Malino Declaration does not run,” said Baso Rustam.
The idea to gather the Malino signatories was conveyed by the House of Representatives (DPR) Chairman Agung Laksono yesterday (30/1).
“This is in order to find out the root of conflict there,” said Agung.
