TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Indonesian Police Headquarters has established a new team for investigating the murder case of human rights activist Munir.
The team will work on preparing the review materials to be presented by the Attorney General's Office.
“I am leading the team,” said General Commissioner Bambang Hendarso Dahuri, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department, yesterday (01/24) at his office.
According to Bambang, the establishment of this new team was a follow up to the previous team that had already requested assistance from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
In November last year, the previous team had also visited the US, Holland and France to re-investigate the case.
General Soetanto, Chief of the Indonesian Police, together with several senior officials from the Indonesian Police Headquarters, including Head of the Intelligence and Security Agency Inspector General Saleh Saaf, were in the US on Friday (01/19).
Sutanto's going to the US was aimed at collecting the results that the previous team had asked for previously from the Federal police.
And the results? “They were positive,” said Bambang.
Unfortunately, he refused to provide details of these results.
“The main thing is that we did something. We are working hard,” said Bambang.
