Organizers of General Election to Be Assisted by Professionals

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Members of the General Election Commission will be assisted by professional experts, selected directly by the organizers of the general election. “This has been the agreement between the government and the DPR,” said Saifullah Ma'shum, Head of the Special Committee on the Law of the General Election Organizers at the Parliamentary Complex, Monday (01/22) in Jakarta.

The agreement between the small team of the Special Committee of DPR and the government team was settled at Minister Ma'ruf's agency's house, Friday (01/19). Both teams have agreed to some provisions in the Draft Bill on General Election Organizers. The resolution will be presented before the Plenary Session of DPR in mid February.

A Member of the Special Committee from the Functional Group Party Ferry Mursyidan Baldan said that the experts will assist the institution in organizing the election. Special staff will assist members of the general election organizers during their term of office.

The team, said Ferry, also agreed that the organizing institution for the general election is to be made permanent. The team accepted not to use the government's proposal so that the General Election Committee (KPU) was ad hoc in nature. “It was inefficient,” he said.
