TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) together with five regional broadcasting commissions reported eight television stations to the National Police (Polri) HQ yesterday (14/12). The television stations were reported because of broadcasting sex, violence, mystical vulgarity. The content violates Article 36 paragraphs 5 and 6 of Decree No.32/2002 on Broadcasting. “All of them (have violated the law),” said KPI Coordinator of Broadcasting Content, Ade Armando, at Polri HQ yesterday.
The programs that are considered to violate obscenity include Fenomena (TV7), Dorce Show (Trans TV), Curhat (Lativi), Hitam Putih (Indosiar), Dewa-Dewi (TPI), Om Farhan (ANTV) and Panggung Hahahihi (SCTV). While the one that is considered violent is Hidayah (Trans TV).
According to Ade, actually KPI has warned the television stations several times, but the warning was ignored.
Deputy Head of Public Relations at Polri HQ, Brig. Gen. Anton Bachrul Alam, who accompanied Ade, said the police will coordinate first with the television stations. “Because so far there hasn't been any complaint from the public,” said Anton.
TV7's spokesperson, Anita Wulandari, said TV7 has heard about the report. “I must check again whether we have received KPI warning letter on the programs that are reported,” she said.
She acknowledged TV7 has received a warning from KPI before it merged with TransTV. “But it was for a small-screen film, not serial programs,” she said. Lativi's, SCTV's and Indosiar's spokespersons have been unable to be reached.
