TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The government is preparing four measures against 1,303 non-performing accounts valued at Rp8.7 trillion in some government institutions.
Prior to taking this action, the government will first clarify the status of the accounts to see if they are state-owned or private accounts.
According to Heginus Manau, Director of Accumulation and Report at the Finance Department. the first measure will be the closing of non-performing accounts if they are proved to be state-owned.
After the accounts are closed, the money will be confiscated by state.
The second measure will be for state-owned accounts to be utilized for ad-hoc interests, to finance short-term interests.
“After they are not utilized anymore, they will be closed,” he told reporters last week in Jakarta.
The third measure is for state-owned accounts to be used for public services agencies.
“This means that the accounts will be kept,” Heginus Manau said.
The fourth measure is for the government to hand over to Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) accounts that are claimed to not belong to state, but to certain workers or officials.
He was reluctant to mention in detail the location of these non-performing accounts.
Heginus Manau only mentioned that the government will freeze accounts first until their status is clear.
