TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Editor-in-chief of Playboy magazine was tried yesterday (7/12) at the South Jakarta District Court. Erwin was charged with publishing the men's magazine. “The defendant is suspected to have violates the sense of decency by publicizing these texts and pictures as a profession ,” said the general prosecutor Resni Muchtar, when reading the charge at the South Jakarta District Court yesterday.
Erwin was charged with Article 282 point 3 of the Criminal Code about morality. By this Article, according to the prosecutor, Erwin is threatened with a sentence of two years and eight months imprisonment.
According to the prosecutor, Erwin selected photographs, and text for Playboy Indonesia magazine. The selection was carried out by the defendant in a meeting with others on the selection team. This is considered by the prosecutor as improper and is meant to stimulate the readers' sex drive, so it is immoral.
After reading the charge, Erwin's attorney team did not propose an exception to the prosecutor's charge. “There is no reason for an objection outside of the case material,” said Ina Rahman, one of the team members. The attorney’s team asked for questioning of the witness in next week's trial so that the trial will go quickly.
Therefore, the head of the judges’ panel, Efran Basuning, scheduled the trial to be continued on December 14 by questioning witnesses. The judge asked the prosecutor to bring exhibits and witnesses with him. Judge Efran asked for the exhibit of two Playboy editions.
It is planned that 35 witnesses will be brought to trial. They include Playboy models: Andhara Early, Kartika Oktaviani Gunawan Xochitl Priscillia alias Fla, Joanna Alexandra, Visensa Nyssa Yuliani, and Julie Estelle
