Aceh Reconstruction Body to Send Lecturers to England

TEMPO Interactive, Banda Aceh: The Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Body for Aceh-Nias is sending candidate lecturers and lecturers of various universities in Aceh to study at 13 universities in England. The offer is part of sending out 1,000 Acehnese people to attain their master’s degree abroad.

Rectors of Syiah Kuala University and the State Institute of Islam (IAIN) Ar-Raniry, Banda Aceh, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Via--Chancellor of the University of Leeds , United Kingdom that represents a consortium of 13 British universities yesterday (12/5).

The signing was done by Michael Arthur, representing 13 consortiums, President of Syiah Kuala University Darni Daud, President of IAIN Ar-Raniry Yusni Sabi, and Deputy of Institutions and Development of Human Resources of Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Body for Aceh-Nias Sudirman Said.

According to spokesperson of the Reconstruction Body Mirza Keumala, the program was initialed by Hywell Collemen's from the University of Leeds after witnessing the destruction of Aceh by the tsunami. “The offer was certainly welcomed by the Rectors of Syiah Kuala and IAIN Ar-Raniry,” said Mirza.
