TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The House of Representatives has said that President must pay attention to input provided by the presidential advisory council.
This was contained in a list of concerning the Draft Bill for the Presidential Advisory Council that both the DPR Special Committee and the government have prepared, represented by State Secretary and Minister Yusril Ihza Mahendra yesterday.
According to Agun Gunandjar Sudarsa, Head of the Special Committee on this Draft Bill, the word 'must' was emphasized so that there is greater substance to the advice that the institution gives.
“By being observed, the position of the institution
becomes stronger,” he said.
Yasona Laoly, a member of the special committee from the Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle, has said that the emphasis was obligated to give so that advice from the institution will not be useless.
However, the government has rejected this proposal.
According to Yusril, the word 'must' will have consequences.
He said that President has the right as to whether or not he uses the advice that the institution gives.
The reason is that presidential accountability is individual.
“I am worried if the President is criticized, it will violate the advisory council,” he said.
