Protest about Reappointment of Advisor to BRR

TEMPO Interactive, Banda Aceh: The Anti-Corruption Movement protested the re-appointment of Akhyarmansyah Lubis as advisor of asset management at the Reconstruction & Rehabilitation Agency (BRR) Aceh-Nias.

The reason is Akhyarmansyah Lubis is under investigation for the case of book procurement corruption which is estimated to cause the state to lose Rp480.5 million. “The reappointment of the corruption suspect is public disinformation,” said Akhiruddin Mahyudin, the movement’s coordinator, Tuesday (21/11).
Akhyarmansyah Lubis’ status was changed to non-active for a month as temporary BRR budget official.

According to Akhiruddin, Akhyarmansyah Lubis’ reappointment can be the cause of other deviations. “This proves that BRR is not committed to corruption eradication,” he said.

BRR spokesperson, Mirza Kumala, confirmed Akhyarmansyah Lubis’ appointment. However, the party’s status is still non-active for his activity as a budget official.

“Akhyarmansyah is still non-active from any duty at BRR in Jakarta and Banda Aceh. But BRR still handles his salary,” said Mirza Keumala.

Mirza Keumala explained, the decision letter of Akhyarmansyah Lubis’ appointment, reasoning it will make he judicature process easy and also access to documents or evidence.

”If not, if Akhyarmansyah is absent from the trial, BRR cannot interfere. This is a form of BRR’s responsibility to ease the legal process,” he said.
