House Evaluated as Slow in Discussing Public Information Draft Bill
Monday, 13 November, 2006 | 16:50 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The coalition of activist organizations for freedom to access public information is urging that the House of Representatives (DPR) finish discussing the Draft Bill on Freedom to Access Information soon.
“In fact, this draft bill was presented six years ago,” said Romanus Lenong, Coordinator Program of Coalition for Accessing Information, in a press conference at the Kontras office on Monday (11/13).
According to him, the DPR does not have a clear target for completing this draft bill.
Up to now, the DPR has canceled some discussion schedules for no clear reason.
The House has only discussed 134 out of the 334 of the list of problems.
Romanus said he considered that there were attempts to hamper the settlement of this draft bill.
Discussions on the draft bill on freedom for accessing public information started in May this year.
