TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The investigation on weapon storing by former Deputy Logistics Assistant Brigadier General Koesmayadi (deceased) will be carried out in February. Interrogation of the case will be handed over to the military prosecutor in December of this year. “Files of storage of the case will be processed in January whereas weapons-supply will be processed one month after,” said Commander of Military Police Center of Indonesian Army Hendardji Soepandji yesterday (11/6).
Hendardji had announced in August eleven members of the Indonesian Military (TNI) who were suspected of being involved in the storing of 185 weapons. They were believed to have violated the law through purchasing, storing and removing weapons without the commanders' permission. Seven other TNI members assisted the action.
Nonetheless, Hendardji has refused to mention their names including four suspects that will be handed over to the military prosecutor in December. The four suspects, said Hendardji, are still being kept in the Military Police prison.
He explained that former Chief of Staff of Indonesian Army (Retired) Ryamizard Ryacudu was not involved. “General Ryamizard does not know,” he said. He said that around two hundred witnesses have been interrogated, including Koesmayadi's widow. Results from the investigation, he said, revealed that Koesmayadi had collected the weapons since he was assigned in Timor-Timur.
