TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Mohhamed Mehdi Zahedi, the Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology, has said that developed countries do not have the right to stop developing countries utilizing nuclear power.
“We must together fight against this scientific apartheid being carried out by developed countries,” said Zahedi after meeting with Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla yesterday (27/6).
According to Zahedi, Iran has been facing great obstacles when it uses nuclear powerfor production of energy, food and medicines.
The United States and the European Union object to Iran's use of uranium because they are concerned that it could be utilized for weapons of mass destruction.
“Based on Islamic teachings, it is forbidden to use nuclear power for weapons of mass destruction,” said Zahedi.
