Arranging Indonesian Citizenship in Malaysia
Friday, 16 June, 2006 | 16:56 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Department of Justice and Human Rights has returned 36 thousand nationalities of Indonesian workers in the Malaysia Peninsula.

“We worked at it to restore our workers' nationality status,” said Ramli Hutabarat, member of the Minister’s expert staff in Social Welfare, Politics, and Security at the Department of Justice and Human Rights, at his office yesterday (15/6).

It is possible that the number will increase.

According to the estimate of the Department of Justice and Human Rights, not less than 100 thousand Indonesian workers in Malaysia do not have nationality status.

The problem is, said Ramli, the government has difficulties in publicizing this information.
