TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: A number of ministers from politics, law, and security met on Thursday (15/6) to discuss preparations for the visit of Australia's Prime Minister John Howard and Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in the near future.
According to Hassan Wirajuda, Minister of Foreign Affairs, one of the important issues that were to be discussed in the meeting of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono with John Howard is the asylum provided to 42 Papuan people some time ago. “In the meeting, there will be a discussion on how to prevent the problem of asylum from recurring,” said Hassan after the meeting.
Meanwhile, the meeting with Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will focus on economic cooperation. “In the meeting agenda, matters of economic territory will be discussed,” he said.
When asked about an extradition agreement between Singapore and Indonesia, Hassan said that matter has been spoken about seven times. “Sixteen Articles have been completed. But we must keep negotiating until it is finished,” he said.
