Thursday, 15 June, 2006 | 17:51 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Agung Laksono, Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), considers that Australia's unhappiness about Abu Bakar Ba'asyir being released is intervention against Indonesia.
“This is our internal affair, don't interfere,” Agung told reporters with a raised voice at the parliament complex, today (15/6).
According to him, the government must be strict with countries that wish to interfere in its domestic affairs and be certain of the steps that it takes.
“If Ba'asyir is free, so be it. His time in prison has been served,” said the Golkar party politician.
Agung also said he considered that the close supervision by the National Police (Polri) Headquarters on Abu Bakar Ba'asyir is overreacting.
“That's overreacting,” he said.
He went on to say that Ba'asyir still has political rights and is not restricted from anything.
