Friday, 09 June, 2006 | 16:28 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Indonesian citizens and government have donated the amount of Rp 6 billion to Timor Leste. The donation consists of household needs such as rice, cooking oil, supplementary food, household furnishings and women's apparel.

The shipment and delivery of the household needs was overseen by Aburizal Bakrie, the Coordinating Minister for the People's Welfare . “Our government has tried to meet the needs of Timor Leste's President Xanana Gusmao,” said Bakrie today.

Bakrie added, Indonesia is still deeply grieved for the victims of the Yogyakarta and Central Java earthquake and the Mount Merapi eruption. This donation will be transported from Halim Perdana Kusuma airport today. The value of the donation is lower than the previous plan of Rp 36 billion.
