Achehnese Local Political Parties to Create Difficulties
Wednesday, 07 June, 2006 | 16:45 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Ikrar Nusa Bhakti, a researcher from the Center of Political Analysis at the Indonesian Institute of Sciences, considers that the existence of local political parties in Aceh could complicate efforts to simplify the party system nationally.
In addition, the institution considers that local political parties could possibly also increase political polarization and fragmentation.
“Local political parties could also create problems in reaching consensus in terms of political decision making at the national level,” he said.
Nonetheless, their existence could also strengthen political decentralization and reduce distances in controlling and organizing political parties.
“This institution could also be a means of communication bridging political parties and civilians in the regions,” he added.
