Quake Victims Start Having Clean Water

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Solo Municipal Drinking Water Company (PDAM) began supplying clean water to the refugee location in Klaten.
Three water hydrants that were used for irrigation were placed in Birit Pasung, and Brangkal villages, Wedi District, Klaten. “The processed water is ready to consume without being boiled first,” said Solo PDAM Director, Abimanyu, Tuesday (6/6).
After the quake, clean water became a rare commodity. They depend on packed mineral water for daily needs because their wells are dry. The only available source of water is irrigation water, but it is mostly for bathing and washing clothes.
“It's too bad if water with a rate of flow of 1.760 cubic meters in the irrigation channel is not put into use while the people lack clean water,” said Abimanyu.
